For the technology of Andrea Rossi, known as Energy catalyzer, to work a great deal of scientific data needs to be reconciled with what is known to be true. That is one of the primary issues behind the unbelief for cold fusion and for E-cats of Rossi in particular. It is believed that cold fusion contradicts the laws of physics, and as such it can be taking place. That was the reason why the experiment of Fleischmann and Pons was ruled out and attributed to some inconsistencies. Nothing else could be arrived at scientifically at that point in time, back in 1989. Now, over twenty years later, the situation has hardly changed, and we are still where we were back then (although there is some progress – as some big time organizations and entities have either embraced Low Energy Nuclear Reactions or spoken highly of it, including Mitsubishi, NASA, Toyota, MIT, etc.).
It is thus no wonder that the public – and in particular the scientific public – can’t wait for Andrea Rossi to release not only the commercial and workable units (no matter how exciting this move is in and of itself), but also the science behind it. Here is what one JONP reader writes on the subject – “At some point, you will need to release verifiable technical data on how the eCat is controlled and stabilized for the public to accept its use.” The same sentiment is supported by another reader – “Is the science behind the E-Cat fully understood?” The reasoning behind these two inquirers is different: the former is interested in the science of Catalyzers for the sake of the safety issues, whereas the latter wants to know how much Rossi’s technology will help develop the science even further. Perhaps, there are others who interested in the matter for different reasons, but these two voices basically represent the main thrust of those interested in the science of the Rossi Energy Catalyzers.
Both of these reasons are put to rest by Rossi at the same Journal of Nuclear Physics, where he states that the science can’t yet be released (even for the sake of the customers’ feeling of security) until the right time, but he assures the readers that the science behind it is fully understood and it presents no threat to safety of the customers whatsoever. Domestic E-Cats will not be posing any threat whatsoever, as the device working under 260 C is never unstable.
When the time is right, however, the science will be revealed and then it will hopefully set many at ease, but until then we will have to take Rossi at his word. It is however reassuring that the science is “fully known.”
